Tokyo, Japan – April 13, 2011 – Midokura Co., Ltd announced that it has raised ¥113 million Japanese yen ($1.3 million USD as of April 13, 2011) in a seed-funding round.
Major investors in the round include:
- Bit-Isle, a major Japanese independent data center provider
- NTT Investment Partners, an investment vehicle under the NTT grouphttp://www.nttip.co.jp/
- 1st Holdings, a major independent package software vendor
- Several entrepreneurs and top executives of IT companies, including Mr. Allen Miner, CEO of SunBridge Corporation
Midokura and three main investors will jointly accelerate the research and development of cloud-enabling technologies including innovative network virtualization. Midokura has already started cooperating with NTT Information Sharing Platform Laboratories in the OpenStack community.
Midokura was founded by in January 2010, by Tatsuya Kato, a serial entrepreneur and a former executive officer of CSK holdings, Dan Mihai Dumitriu, a former Researcher at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, and Kiyoshi Nishikawa, a renowned IT incubator at ngi group.
